1937 Stinson Reliants SR-9C: New Projects, 2014
This SR-9C will be powered by a Lycoming R680-13, 300 HP engine. It was the only year the Stinson Reliant had a curved windshield.
With a bubble cowl and curved windshield, it is the most attractive of this model airplane (to me.)
Rough as it appears, many of its systems are sufficiently intact to use as the pattern to complete the SR-10 project. Once the SR-10 is complete, I will shift to this airplane and expect it to take fourt or five years to complete.
My understanding is that this airplane was kept at a crop dusting facility. The owner found out that the local teenagers were flying the airplane when he left the airport after work. Strip stripped the fabric to disable the airplane. Thereafter, the chickens used it as a roost.
True or not, it is a good story and I will carry it forward. After cleaning the airframe, I tend to believe it is true.
