I acquired this airplane in a dismantled condition. It has an exceptionally nice airframe, but had been dismantled for roughly 20 years.

The previous owner owned an avionics shop and started a major avionics and autopilot update. Unfortunately, he became ill and and was unable to complete the project.

Understandably, this was his baby and the fastest Bonanza ever made. I was honored to be trusted to take over this project.

The biggest task was finding the parts and supporting documentation that would legally allow me to assemble the airplane. I am strict on paperwork, supporting documentation, and being above reproach in my work. I consider myself professional, though others may use different words.

I am guilty of getting exasperated with some of the previous work. For this, I apologize. The love, effort, and dedication was applied liberally. The corrections were relatively minor.

The S-Tec 60 autopilot is coupled to the HSI, IFR GPS, and KX-165. I use the HSI for both to keep the panel operationally simple.

I did not chase the lastest and greatest on the GPS and avionics because they get out of date so quickly. I chose a reliable GX-60 because it is capable and I have many hours behind the unit. The VFR GPS uses XM weather because my range and speed are enough I want to look farther away than ADS-B allows. The 496 also allows my front seat passenger to "play" instead of asking, "How much longer, ...".

This airplane is nicer than I view myself. I picture myself as crusty, worn, and reliable. This airplane is a gem. It is like "dating up".
